My Dad's Birthday...

Today would have been my Dad's 77th birthday. He was a great Dad. We miss him terribly. For Christmas this year, my brother Bill made a DVD of all the video clips he had of my Dad. It was great seeing him walking and talking. I remember going to the races with him almost every Saturday night during racing season at New Smyrna Speedway. We'd stop at Burger King in Longwood, FL, on the way to the track and have a burger and onion rings. Then we'd drive over the the track, and we had our favorite spot at the far end of the bleachers near turn 4. All the action seemed to happen in turn 4 as the drivers would jockey for position just before the start-finish line. We saw countless wrecks and spin-outs in turn 4. It was great. I'd always wander down to the souvenir booth during the lulls between races, and he'd always give me a little money to buy a patch for my racing jacket, or a Hot Wheels car, or a funnel cake at the concession stand. Ah, what memories! Anyway, here's a picture of my Dad and I about the time we used to go the the races.
