My work space...

This is a picture of my work space at home. I think Bruce Wayne would be proud.

I just found a piece of software, Synergy, that allows me to share my keyboard and mouse from my personal laptop onto my work laptop (on the left). So I was able to clear my desk of a second keyboard and mouse. You can download the software here. CNET has a good video on setting it up, because it's not the most intuitive piece of software ever written. However, it has two things (three sir...), three things going for it: 1) It works perfectly, 2) it works on PCs AND on the stinkin' Mac's, and 3) IT'S FREE!

Which Cross Is Mine?

Our pastor used this as an illustration this past Sunday:

After they all had been tried, found guilty, and sentenced to die, 26 Christians were marched to the place where crudely made crosses stood. Almost three months earlier, they had been arrested in Kyoto Japan and charged with following Christ. One of the convicts name was Ibaragi Kun.

Seeing how young he was, an official took him aside and urged him to recant his faith to save his life. Looking the official in the eye the young man said confidently, “Sir, it would be far better if you yourself became a Christian, then you could go to heaven with me.”

The officer stared, startled by the young man's faith. Finally, the young man asked, “Sir, which cross is mine?”

The bewildered official pointed to the smallest of the 26 crosses. The young man ran to the cross, knelt before it, and embraced it. When the soldiers began to nail his hands and feet to the cross, he did not cry out in pain. He courageously accepted the path God had laid out for him.

The crucifixion of the 26 Christians on November 23, 1596, was the beginning of a period of intense persecution of Christians in Japan. Over the next 70 years, as many as one million Japanese Christians would be killed for their faith. Many would embrace their own crosses to follow the example of Ibaragi Kun, a very mature 12 year old boy.
What crosses has God put into your life to refine and purify your faith?

Two down, six to go...

This weekend (the weekend of June 1,2008, in case you're reading this in a time capsule or something), Andrew graduated from high school. We home schooled Andrew all the years of his education (K-12). The graduation ceremony was held in Orlando, at Metro Life Church, where Andrew attends church since he's been in Orlando. He, and 13 other grads were promoted to whatever comes next in their lives. Some are going to college, some are waiting for a bit, and I was very happy to hear that most of the girls want to continute their preparation for being a future wife and mother.

We put together a video to honor Andrew (as did all the other parents for their child). It was fun gathering the pictures, writing the tribute, and then recording it. Here's the video we did.

Here are a few pictures from the event.:

Mom, Andrew, and Dad on stage watching video.

Here's the whole gang around our little graduate.

Did he forget his shoes?

A Son's Love For His Mother!

Sean wanted to show his true love for his Mom today for Mother's Day. So he did what every loving son would do, he got her a card, and a tattoo. Here's the card he got her:

An example of God's mercy in our moving...

When we announced we were moving to Orlando, not all of the kids were as excited as we had hoped. Although the older kids wanted to move since they didn't have any same-age friends here, the younger kids were less than enthusiastic. We have been praying ever since for God to help the younger kids not only accept us moving, but embrace it. Well, God heard our prayers and we wanted to share an example of what God did to help Claire with what she was going through regarding the move. Click on the image below to read an essay she wrote for her Literature class.

A Second Day In The Life of Mr. Lizard

If you remember our first day in the life of Mr. Lizard (read here), here's a second look at the interesting life of Mr. Lizard, as can only be told by Mary Henderson.

Also, I think we found a baby picture of Mr. Lizard:
